Session Advice
Regular Session Advice:
The best clothing to wear for a portrait session is solid colors. Bold patterns and words or sayings on shirts just don't look good. Typically longer pants and sleeves look better in pictures. If your session will include more than one person, I would suggest coordinating the outfits.....that doesn't mean everyone has to wear blue jeans and white shirts...but try to keep everyone in the same color family. The most important thing is to be comfortable!
If you want to include a beloved pet in your photos I am not opposed to that, but first you need to ask yourself a few questions...is your pet well trained? Will he sit and stay consistently. If your pet is easily distracted and hyper, he may not have a good time, and that leads to family stress which will show in your faces. If you do bring your pet, make sure you bring someone who can take him/her for a walk while we work on family shots.
Maternity Session Advice:
Stay well hydrated the day of your session. Please wear loose clothing on the day of your session if you plan to have any bare belly pictures taken. You won't want elastic lines on your tummy!! Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We can try a few different outfits, depending on the location chosen. Please keep your manicure neutral.
Birthday Session Advice:
Please let me know ahead of time if there are any particular moments that you would like me to capture. Sometimes in the delivery room it gets a little crowded and crazy so it's helpful to know what you want ahead of time. You will also want to check with your physician and ensure that he/she is ok with a photographer being present and photographing the delivery.
Newborn Session Advice:
I suggest keeping the baby awake for a good stretch of time before our scheduled appointment, then feeding the baby just before the appointment. This should ensure a happy, sleepy baby. I will want to find areas in your home that have lots of natural light coming through. I will bring backdrops and some props, but keep your eye out around the house for things....you would be surprised what would look adorable. You will need to have your heat set to at least 80-85....if the adults are hot...then it's perfect!
